If you’re shopping for a kayak, the more information you have, the better able you’ll be to purchase a kayak that is a good fit for you and the kind of paddling you do. With so many kayaks now available to paddlers of all sizes and abilities it's important to hear directly from the manufacturer about their kayaks and what they are designed for.

The design statement has always been an important part of the kayak reviews we publish in Sea Kayaker magazine. It assures that we match the reviewers to the kayak and send them out in the conditions the kayak was designed for. The statement also can provide you with a useful, albeit brief, summary of the designer’s intentions. To give the manufacturer an opportunity to go into more detail about selected kayaks we’ve created a series of short videos. In this series of videos we've asked manufacturers’ representatives four questions about each kayak featured: Who is the kayak designed for; what conditions can it take on; what safety features have been incorporated into the design; and what sets this kayak apart from its competitors?

This is an ongoing project and boats and manufacturers are constantly being added and new videos uploaded. Sea Kayaker staff regularly attends trade shows and consumer events throughout the country all year long. We'll be taking advantage of these opportunities to take a look at more kayaks and hear from more manufacturers.
